Investigator Pro 4.0 with voice search has been unveiled. Securus Technology is really knocking it out of the park with this one. This software allows a police officer to comb through an entire phone call database for particular vocal signatures.
Every single phone call in a prison is recorded, coming and going. This is obviously put in place as a deterrent to prisoners coordinating any criminal activity with people outside of prison. But criminals already know they’re being recorded so they often use coded language or messengers, using other people to make phone calls.
This new software gives police officers a precise search tool. The software digs deep into the database of all recorded phone calls to pull up every single call involving a particular person or a particular group of people. This makes investigating anybody on the inside of a prison or anybody calling a prison much easier.
But it’s crazy that Global Tel-Link, Securus’s number one competitor, has taken the Investigator Pro 4.0 with voice search creators to court in a patent lawsuit. Global Tel-Link claims that the telecommunications company has stolen its voice over Internet protocols. But what it seems to me is that it is just a lame power grab.
Global Tel-Link has made the news recently for its poor performance and its poor treatment of prisoners. The company has been known to charge well over a dollar a minute which forced the FCC to move in and regulate the price of prisoner phone calls. Reviews of the company are horrible and it turns out that the company makes over half $1 billion a year providing this poor service.
